Our client a leading specialist within its field is looking for an experienced Production Manager to join their successful team based at their site in Abertillery.

Role/Responsibility

The Production Manager is a member of the Production Control Team (Scheduler/Process Leads/Materials Controller) reporting directly to the Managing Director. The Production Manager is accountable and responsible for plant production including quality control, protection of equipment along with the following:
* Monitor output to ensure targets are being met and delivery and customer service requirements are being satisfied.
* Provide manufacturing information by compiling and analysing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
* Enforce standards of workplace organisation and housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean working environment.
* Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
* Establish and/or adjust Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) to meet production, quality and H&S targets.
* Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
* Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of equipment and/or workforce.
* Analyse and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
* Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workforce to achieve work goals.
* Finalise production plan establishing priorities according to efficiency, resource availability and customer requirements
* To work with the Production Control Unit to identify, control and rectifying operational problems that result in unplanned downtime.
* Produce shift production summaries.
* Manage employees in the Production Department and oversee the production process
* Ensure that the production is cost effective
* Manage required labour resources
* Set the quality standards
* Monitor the production processes and feedback to the Production Scheduler as required
* Liaise among different departments, e.g. Supply Chain; Maintenance
* Work with other managers to implement the company's policies and goals
* Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed and that Accidents and Dangerous Occurrences (near misses) are reported in order that appropriate action can be taken
* Manage and motivate a team of workers
* Review worker performance and identify training needs
* Report environmental incidents (leaks & spills) and take immediate action to prevent pollution
* With HR, ongoing review of operator skill competency via use of training matrix to ensure training and development needs are covered
* Provide supportive management to coach, develop and motivate the team
* Is responsible for the overall coordination and evaluation of manufacturing output

Skills/Qualifications

* Must have a proven track record in a Production Manager role.
* Understanding, development and monitoring of manufacturing K.P.I.'s
* IT literate
* Experience in an Automotive sector
* Microsoft Office (Word/PowerPoint/Excel)
* Excellent man-management skills
* Cost control knowledge
* CI Lean continuous improvement tools and techniques exposure would be an advantage
